Production - Double page spread

After researching many examples of double page spreads i noticed a common thing was to have an image take up a whole page/majority of a page, having decided what image i was going to use that was the first thing i laid down:

 As said before because of the poorer quality of the main image i would feature a smaller image on the adjacent page. This is a photo i took last year of Aidan, i thought it worked well especially with the vibrant orange background which was my main colour throughout my pages, this was keeping a consistency throughout and enabled me to incorporate orange into my double page spread too.

Below is how i sized my image/ where i positioned it:

 The next thing for me to do was to put on my main heading and introductory sentence:

i added a small black circle on the right hand page which i would feature a quote from aidan's interview in, this would give the reader an insight into the content of the interview.

I decided to put the heading in a black box with a contrasting bold white font, this links back to the contents page where the masthead is in a white font with black background. I then put a white underline underneath to make it bolder and more of a statement. 

I then wrote a short summary underneath which i picked up in my research was common in double page spreads, i also noticed that summarys most of the time have the use of a triple so that it is just the right amount to sum up without giving too much away. My summary sentence read:

"After bursting onto the scene last yeat, we catch up with Aidan Munnely on touring, drinking with one half of the gallagher brothers and that infamous swearing at the brits." 

These are the main topics i will be focusing on in my interview, the swearing at the brits relates to the main story so i put that last as the ending note. I chose the subject of touring as it is a common frequent topic that nearly always comes up in musician interviews and finally i picked 'drinking with one half of the gallagher brothers'. The gallagher brothers Noel and Liam are the frontmen of massive brit group oasis therefore are iconic to british music so are very much relevant to the magazine audience so by having them mentioned it will attract the audience in. 

I also chose to expand on this by picking my quote to go in the cirlce as "Noel fucking Gallagher bought me a pint". The quote will be one of the stand out features of my double page spread so again it draws their attention in if they didnt read the summary sentence. Also even though Oasis have split Noel has gone on to have a successful solo career with Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds whereas Liam's Beady eye have not been as sucessful therefore i chose Noel as the half. This quote will be featured somewhere in my article.

Touring, drinking with one half of the gallagher brothers and that infamous swearing at the brits is also in chronological order with my interview.

For a finishing touch with my quote i added a doodle sort of line which i had previously used on my old front cover with Darius on. 

Lastly i added my article in (i will retype my article in another blog post for you to read)

As another finishing touch i made an album cover for Aidan to feature on the bottom to promote his album. I took a simple photo of him however applied a fish eye lenses effect to create a cool perspective, i then titled the album goldfish bowl which worked well as i had used that name for a single of Darius' album on my old double page spread and also the fisheye effect had made the image spherical so it looked bowl like.
