Production and Planning - New double page spread photography

Here are the photos i took:

As you can see the photos did not turn out great as the low lighting made my model appear very dark and you could not see much of his face. By the time i had got these images up on the computer to review, Aidan had returned to university therefore i chose the best of the bunch which i thought was this one:

I think this was the best image to use from the selection i had as it was cropped well so that no other details e.g. the fridge appeared in the background, it was also the image where you could see his face more clearly. As well as this i thought the pose was good as he looks more reflective so for my magazines purpose he could be reflecting back to that night at the brits. I would not use publisher to manipulate the brightness and contrast to try and improve my image, Here is the buttons i used:

After experimenting with the brightness and contrast i came up with this, i thought it would contrast well to the bright orange splash colour i had kept consistent throughout my magazine.

I didn't think the quality of this image would affect my double page spread too much as it would be overlayed with a quote and the reader would be more interested in the article anyway. Also when looking through old NME magazines in class i found a double page spread feature on the beatles which had used an incredibly blurred photo of the band live on stage. To make up for the poorer quality of this image i would feature another photo of aidan on the opposite page which would be of a higher quality.
