Preliminary Task - School magazine contents page

For my school contents page i have decided to use an example of Q's to base mine on as i have little experience in creating contents pages and as this is my prelim task it is an opurtunity to improve on my skills and knowledge. the contents page i have chosen only features two images and uses basic colours of grey, white, black and red. I will of course modify my contents page so that some aspects are changed to fit my task.
To the left is my flat plan of how i will set out my contents page, the coloured squares represent images that will go there, as mentioned before i will modify it as the Q edition only features 2 images and i plan to feature at least 3.

 I then placed all of my images taken, the first block of images is actually made up of 4 seperate photos however the same background makes them look like one whole image, the photos look like professional prom pictures however i just took them in my friends back garden. For the second image i collected a range of different items which would appeal to sixth formers e.g. sixth form diary (the words sixth form are clearly on show in this image to further reinforce the audience), ipod, house/car keys etc/ The image has no accompanying text however gives off the impression it is something to do with getting organised/what you will need for sixth form life. The bottom right hand corner is a phot of Mr Titcombe playing charades, this is a fun feature so that the school magazine is not all doom and gloom about school work and that there is something enjoyable inside to do, it is also in a curved shape square so that the contents page isnt so structured. Next to that is a tips for a level box, i chose the shape to be like a piece of paper to add variety. Also next to the word contents i included the sixth form badge again in a light blue box which is repeated again on the front cover, this could become a symbol for the magazine so that it is instantly recognisable.
